Gwen Bradford is associate professor and the Chancellor Jackman Professor in Philosophy at the University of Toronto. Her work is largely in value theory, and has been published in journals such as Noûs, The Journal of Philosophy, and Philosophical Quarterly. Her first book, “Achievement” (Oxford University Press, 2015), examines the nature and value of achievement, and was awarded the Book Prize of the American Philosophical Association. While at the University Center for Human Values, she will be working on a book project entitled “Uniqueness,” which explores the questions of what it is for something to be unique and why, if at all, it matters. This project explores a range of issues, including irreplaceability, the value of artworks and cultural artifacts, the separateness of persons, and the value of humanity.
