
Dr. Arseniy Kumankov received his PhD in philosophy from the HSE University in 2014. Since 2013 he has been teaching in HSE University, where he was a deputy dean for research of the Faculty of Humanities and an associate professor, and Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninka). He was actively engaged in the popularization of knowledge and was visible in the media.
Dr. Kumankov’s area of specialization is war studies, ethics of war and peace, political and social theory and philosophy. He published 3 books in Russian — “War in the 21 Century” (HSE Publishing House. 2020), “War. In Thrall to Violence” (EUSP Press. 2019); “Modern Classics of Just War Theory” (Aleteia. 2019) — and dozens of papers in Russian and English. He also remains an editor of the book series “The NZ Library” at the New Literary Observer publishing house (NLO).
