The University Center for Human Values’ Xander de los Reyes, a student in the Values and Public Life Certificate Program, has been named one of 12 Princeton students selected to join the 2023 Scholars in the Nation’s Service Initiative internship program. Xander de los Reyes is the Class of 2023 Frank C. Carlucci ’52 Scholar in the Department of Politics interested “in the nexus of Americans’ civil liberties, technology, and policing.” Before studying at Princeton University, de los Reyes served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2012 to 2017 and graduated summa cum laude with an associate degree from Saddleback College.
The Scholars in the Nation’s Service Initiative (SINSI) was established in 2006 at Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) with the goal “to set outstanding individuals on the path toward public service careers in the U.S. government, focusing on both domestic policy and international affairs, through academic training that is integrated with work experience in federal agencies.” The Initiative funds a graduate program and an internship program. The graduate program includes a two-year Master in Public Affairs (MPA) at SPIA and two years of paid fellowship rotations at executive branch departments or agencies. The undergraduate internship program awards eight- to ten- week spring and summer internships within an executive agency.
