At Princeton, Taub was a philosophy major who displayed significant interest in and inclination towards a career in journalism, demonstrated by his photo exhibit from the frontlines of the war against ISIS on the Turkey/Syrian border, as well as in his participation in journalism classes offered through the Humanities Council's Journalism program. Taub went on to pursue his Master's in Journalism from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, after which he began writing for The New Yorker.

Reported on Twitter: Congratulations to the Polk Award Winners! of The New Yorker won the Magazine Reporting Award for showing the humanitarian devastation caused by the shrinkage of Lake Chad in Africa and underlining the connection of the ecological disaster to famine and uprising.
