Ryan Darr enlightens on environmental ethics in the Washington Post

Calling attention to the topic of environmental ethics, Ryan Darr, postdoctoral research associate in Philosophy and Religion in the Center for Human Values, wrote the January 9 Washington Post article, “’Red Wolves’ remains the best choice for the new name for the Washington Football Team.” Darr’s timely opinion piece was published as Washington, D.C.’s National Football League (NFL) team is gearing up to announce its new name and mascot in early February. He argues for the importance of linking human identity and community to local land and wildlife. Commenting on the renaming of the Washington Football Team, he suggests that the names of sports teams can play a meaningful role to bring identity and recognition to both at the same time.
