Kim Scheppele on the aftermath of the election

Feb. 2, 2021

In the aftermath of the US election, Kim Lane Scheppele’s expertise on authoritarian regimes and failing democracies has been sought by news outlets and academic forums worldwide.

The Laurance S. Rockefeller Professor of Sociology and International Affairs in the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and the University Center for Human Values was recently quoted in articles by CNN, Bloomberg and NBC News on the abuse of power and its effect on democracy, lessons to be learned from the Trump presidency and the threats to our battered democracy left in its wake.

Scheppele has also been writing extensively on similar themes, including “The Life of the Party,” a piece for the International Constitutional Law blog on the need to rebuild the Republican Party, along with several substantial posts on Trump and the transition of power, insurrection and impeachment for Verfassungsblog, the German academic forum on constitutional law and politics,  which can be found here.
