Kim Lane Scheppele on the rule of law in the European Union

The World Justice Project interviewed Kim Lane Scheppele, Laurance S. Rockefeller Professor of Sociology and International Affairs and the University Center for Human Values, for the article, “European Union's Top Court Rules Against Hungary and Poland in Rule of Law Showdown.” Professor Scheppele discusses the European Court of Justice’s milestone decision that upholds the 2020 Conditionality Regulation that allows the European Union to cut some member state funding based on the rule of law performance. The February 16 ruling will ultimately allow the European Union to stop funding Hungary and other rogue states in the Union.
