Former Italian prime minister Mario Monti and Jan-Werner Mueller will debate populism on Friday, April 21 at the Milan Book fair.  Monti, a former Commissioner of the European Union who now serves as president of Bocconi University, led the Italian government at the height of the Eurocrisis.  Mueller’s book advances the claim that technocratic governance and populism can under certain circumstances strengthen each other.
