Congratulations to Elena Zeng, postdoctoral research associate in political theory, whose dissertation “The Politics of Belief in Hume and Enlightenment Scepticism” won Cambridge University's Prince Consort & Thirlwall Prize and Seeley Medal.

The prize, which is one of the university's oldest, has been awarded by Cambridge's Faculty of History since 1904. It is open to all Cambridge graduate students whose dissertations involve original historical research.

Zeng defended her dissertation last year. It traces the rise of liberalism by investigating the role of scepticism in Enlightenment moral and political thought in Britain, France and Germany.
