Adam Kirsch reviewed Professor Alan Ryan's newest book, On Politics, in the October 29th issue of The New Yorker. Kirsch described the two-volume history of political philosophy as "magisterial" and "a powerful brief against the unexamined life." On Politics is being published by Penguin Books in December, 2012.
