Congratulations to the Princeton undergraduates who were awarded Research Film Studio travel grants for a week-long intensive RFS Filmmakers’ Camp in Los Angeles.

The recipients are Joseph Kim Sexton, a junior; sophomores Althea Aguel, Jatavion Butler, Ela Gebremariam, Kamila Isaieva, Eva-Labelle Kenmoe, Skye Lowe, Matthew Okechukwu, Al Potter, Yasmin Sokunle, and Maksim Zvolyak; and first-year student Yuchen Shi.

The students are part of a larger team that is working hard on a project that will showcase, among other things, the architecture of Princeton’s campus, which will debut in the 2025 Venice Biennale.

To prepare to develop their own exhibition, students will spend spring break studying exhibitions in many of LA’s best museums, including the Hammer Museum, the Getty Center, the Academy Museum, and the Broad. Students will also learn how to archive films and conduct research in film archives in a workshop taught by the archivists of UCLA’s Film and Television Archives.

They will also enjoy sunsets — while working on the shot plans of the two documentary films for the Venice exhibition — on LA’s iconic beaches and film screenings on location at sites like the Griffith Observatory .
