Event Description

The Science and Social Justice Salon series aims to build bridges between scientists and humanists interested in critically examining the social and ethical impacts of their work, and scholars in the humanities already at Princeton who can help them to realize this vision. Join us to build community over drinks and light fare in a relaxed, casual setting.

This Salon will feature Lydia X.Z. Brown, a writer, public speaker, educator, trainer, consultant, advocate, community organizer, community builder, activist, scholar, and attorney. Their work begins at and centers intersections of disability, queerness, race, gender, class, and nation and migration. They hold far more positions than can be listed. Among them, they are currently an adjunct lecturer and core faculty in the Disability Studies Program and the Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Georgetown University, and as an adjunct professorial lecturer in the American Studies Program at American University’s Department of Critical Race, Gender, and Culture Studies.

Kelsey Henry, an interdisciplinary historian at Princeton’s Society of Fellows, will join as a discussant. Henry’s work integrates perspectives from Black studies, histories of science and medicine, and disability studies.

Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
