To follow is a list of steps visitors should take before their departure at the end of their appointment. Note, that departing Postdoctoral Research Associates should also refer to the generic Postdoctoral Research Associate Checklist found here (scroll down to the bottom of the page).
Anticipated Departure Date and Forwarding Information
When known, please provide Dawn Disette with your anticipated campus departure date. If you would like to stay beyond the appointment end date (specified in your offer letter), please let Dawn know as soon as possible so that UCHV can seek to extend your TigerCard. This will allow you to retain access to Marx Hall, 5 Ivy Lane, and the library.
Before your appointment ends, update your forwarding information via Self Service: http://www.princeton.edu/selfservice. This will allow Princeton University to forward important communications to you in the future. If you are in the US on a visa, providing your updated information will ensure that future communications from Non-Resident Tax Compliance and Payroll reach you in a timely manner.
In addition to updating your information in Self Service, please send directly to Dawn: (1) your forwarding email address, (2) your home mailing address, and (3) your professional mailing address so that UCHV can forward your mail and future communications. Please note that we will only forward first-class mail for 6 months following your departure.
Please return your office key to Dawn before you leave Princeton.
Please note that your email account will be disabled 30 days following your end date. Be sure to clean out all of your computer files prior to your departure. If you choose, you may forward your email to a personal email account. Please find more information on how to do so here. Andrew Perhac will fully format your office computer after you leave, so please make sure to copy any data you need to take with you to a cloud storage provider or USB flash drive, or via another system. For help with email forwarding or copying email/files from your office computer or personal drive, email Andrew Perhac directly.
Please submit any outstanding Concur reports by the last date of your appointment. Your university Travel and Expense card will no longer work after this date, and you will lose access to Concur.
If you are insured through Princeton University, your coverage will end the last day of the month in which termination occurs. This is automatic and requires no additional action. If eligible, you will receive information from the Office of Human Resource’s vendor PayFlex about continuing your health care benefits under the COBRA law. Packing and Moving
Research funds are not available to be used for personal or office moving expenses (only your relocation allowance can be used in this way). In addition, UCHV staff cannot assist with any lifting/packing/moving of boxes or other personal effects. UCHV can provide packing materials for use in your office. To be connected with recommended packing, moving, or shipping vendors, please contact Dawn Disette.
We recommend that departing LSR Visiting Faculty Fellows hold on to documentation of your final stipend payment as you will likely need this for your tax filing (if you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident).
