John Peter DiIulio is a fifth year graduate student in the Department of Politics. His research interests include freedom, liberalism, ethics, and legal philosophy. His dissertation examines the role of power in the political and moral philosophy of John Stuart Mill, with a focus on Mill’s understanding of liberty, autonomy, and happiness. Through a close reading of Mill’s corpus, John offers an account of Mill’s thought that emphasizes and reinterprets his commitments to non-domination, the social conditions of freedom, and human flourishing. He received a B.A. in political science from the University of Pennsylvania.
