Anna Offit is a fifth year graduate student in the Department of Anthropology. Her dissertation is the first ethnographic study of lay participation and prosecutorial strategy in the American legal system. Her research draws on participant observation— as a lawyer and researcher— in three federal prosecutors’ offices in the Northeast region of the United States. During the 2015-2016 academic year, Anna received a Fulbright grant to explore the comparative implications of this work in Norway, where the jury system will soon be replaced. Anna holds an A.B. from Princeton University, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
