Graduate Student Top-Up Prizes

The University Center for Human Values is offering top-up prizes for applicants who are admitted as graduate students for the fall 2012. A limited number of $2,000 prizes will be awarded on a competitive basis to excellent students who show promise in the area of ethics, political theory/philosophy, and human values. The prize is a one-time only award that will be added to the stipend during the first year of study.

Each department may nominate several students for this award. All applicants who have been offered admission are eligible.  In order to evaluate nominees, we need the following information: a few sentences from the department stating why the student merits a top-up and offering a ranking of the students within the department's admission pool, as well as a relative ranking if you nominate more than one student. We would also like a copy of the student's application essay (personal statement) so that we can better evaluate the appropriateness of our support.

We are not able to support as many awards as we have in the past years so it will be particularly important to provide all the information requested, including an unambiguous ranking of nominees.

Please send your nominations to Erum Syed, assistant director of the University Center for Human Values, erum@princeton.edu, no later than Friday, March 2. Prize recipients are expected to be announced by March 12.

If you have questions, please contact Erum Syed, 8-2739.
